Apraxia
What is apraxia?
Apraxia is a speech disorder that affects the ability to plan and execute speech-controlled movements.
Children with apraxia have difficulty controlling the movements of the muscles responsible for speech, which leads to difficulty producing sounds correctly and clearly.
How can apraxia be recognized?
Apraxia can appear at an early age, and common signs include:
- Difficulty producing different verbal sounds.
- Delay in starting to speak.
- Disorders in coordinating oral movements.
- Difficulty forming words and sentences.

At Therapy Stages Center, we offer comprehensive programs to treat apraxia, including:

The child’s condition is evaluated by speech and language specialists to determine the extent of the impact of apraxia and determine the appropriate treatment plan
Oral motor training
This includes training the child on correct oral movements and enhancing control of the muscles responsible for speech.
Speech and language training
The child is trained on how to form words and sentences correctly and clearly, in addition to improving the ability to express thoughts and feelings.
